Dr. Neuhaus’ current research interests are:

  • Studying microbial molecular ecologies using high-throughput sequencing methods, including 16S-rRNA gene amplicon seq, RNAseq, RIBOseq and alike.
  • Cultivation and description of novel species from various host organisms.
  • Evolution of novel and overlapping genes, allowing bacteria to adapt to novel niches.
  • Bacteria-bacteria and and bacteria-host communication.

Privately, he enjoys the wonders of the insects, especially of ants and butterflies.
