Taxonomy and Biodiversity
....and many coworkers over many years
The interest is on the study of intra- and interspecific biodiversity of microbial communities with a focus on foodborne microbiota. During this research, numerous novel species and genera have been found using high-through put identification by FTIR spectroscopy, some of which have been formally described. A large strain collection including some 13.000 strains has been compiled. This collection serves as a reference for the description of novel species and the analysis of the biodiversity of selected taxa. In addition, it is a repository of microbial biodiversity prevalent in food related environments.
