The Mission

ZIEL defined its mission in 2005 as part of the target agreement with TUM with the following five goals:

  1. ZIEL performs interdisciplinary basic research at the interfaces of food quality, nutrition and health considering the entire food chain from raw materials to human physiology and pathophysiology.
  2. ZIEL fosters interdisciplinary research between its units by means of young scientists' research groups.
  3. ZIEL supports young scientists with financial contributions to projects, dissertations and habilitations.
  4. ZIEL generates operating revenues according to the yearly released budget of TUM.
  5. ZIEL serves society by offering advanced training courses, seminars and conferences for various stakeholder groups and provides professional consultancy for industry, politics and science.
